# Darfur genocide
Laurence at Commentary has written up an excellent analysis of the genocide in Darfur. 180,000 dead in 18 months. Rape, murder, systematic displacement and starvation being carried out with the full military support of the Sudanese government.
I've been pretty dovish and downright cynical about Iraq and the recent sabre-rattling towards Syria and Iran. But if there was a place that really needs military intervention, it's Sudan. What's so painfully infuriating is that despite the "never again" handwringing after Rwanda, it's happening all over again. Despite the rousing arguments about (oh-so selectively) subduing despotic nations in the Middle East because "it's the right thing to do," the right thing isn't being done where it's most desperately needed.
